8020 was appointed to promote start-up GoMedia as Europe’s leading onboard infotainment provider for rail and coach operators. Its technology helps operators monetise their onboard Wi-Fi infrastructure and transform the passenger experience with world-class entertainment, information and advertising content, hosted onboard and delivered to passengers’ mobile devices.
Our goal was to educate transport companies about the passenger satisfaction and ancillary revenue benefits of GoMedia’s technology, thereby helping the company win further UK and continental European customers. By enhancing GoMedia’s reputation, we would also strengthen its negotiating position with content owners and technology partners while attracting high-calibre staff to help the business to scale.
Key to exciting journalists about GoMedia’s technology was letting them experience it, which we achieved with two memorable briefings. With Eurostar, we took a group of rail and tech journalists to Paris, holding a press conference en route with GoMedia’s CEO. Meanwhile, with National Express, we took transport and national travel journalists from Victoria to Wembley for a cross-London product demonstration before watching England play Spain from the National Express corporate box.
Building on this, we sustained the flow of news with regular announcements, including GoMedia’s solution for Virgin being named Best Travel Technology Product at the Business Travel Awards.
To spread knowledge about commercialised onboard infotainment, we created thought leadership articles for the media and GoMedia’s blog. We covered topics such as ancillary revenues, onboard Wi-Fi selection and the importance of digital rights management. We also created media case studies to illustrate how GoMedia benefits operators and their passengers.
We cemented GoMedia’s position as an industry-leading provider with a high volume of quality coverage across transport trade, television trade and technology media. We increased GoMedia’s thought leadership presence, enhancing its authority with operators and supporting the company with its lead generation.
GoMedia experienced rapid progression, doubling its customer base and tripling sales pipeline growth during our involvement. We’re proud to have supported such significant growth in GoMedia’s business, leading to its eventual acquisition by a Swedish technology group.
